Still Water Yoga

"We cannot see our reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can truly see."

Welcome to Still Water Yoga Lake Tahoe! Our goal is to provide a warm and open space for the newest of yogis to advanced practitioners. We offer a variety of classes to fit your yoga needs and schedule. We aim to become an integral part of your healthy lifestyle and enhance your physical and emotional well being through our classes. Our experienced instructors come from a variety of different backgrounds, and provide support on and off the mat.

People of all athletic abilities can find the benefit of stepping onto their mat consistently. In addition to the physical benefits of improving flexibility, gaining strength, and improving overall health, yoga can help the mind create space to find clarity. Yoga can also help people find relief from stress, and come to a place of self-actualization. It allows a quiet space and time for self reflection. Using this time for reflection, self-compassion and personal growth often manifest.

We invite you to join us for any and all of our classes that we offer throughout the week! To get the most out of your yoga experience, we encourage you to practice consistently. Please take a look at our membership options to see what fits best for you! Ask about our introductory offers, either enjoy your first class on us or sign up for your first week of unlimited classes for only $15!

We look forward to seeing you at Still Water Yoga!

WORKSHOPS WITH JAYNE ROBERTSON

JAYNE ROBERTSON has been teaching the holistic value of movement in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for 35 years.

Whether to gymnasts, physical education & recreation students, personal training clients, fitness enthusiasts or yoga students, she has been able to draw upon her vast knowledge of human anatomy, metaphysics, and healthy living.  Her career began as a high-level gymnastics coach, evolved through personal training and further into yoga teaching and yoga therapy.  What has contributed to Jayne’s unique teaching style is that she has had the opportunity of studying with both gymnastics and yoga masters. She was fortunate to study with Ju Ping Tian (Australian Women’s National Gymnastics Coach) and Bernard Petiot (Canadian Women’s National Coach) in her early years.  This foundation of precision, in-depth biomechanics and functional anatomy has set the platform on which she built her yogic education.
She holds both undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in exercise and sports science and 750+ hours of formal yoga studies. She is a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapy. Over the past ten years, she has concentrated on yoga therapy and the philosophical practices of yoga.  Jayne continues to study with her two most influential yoga teachers:  Nischala Joy Devi and Judith Hanson Lasater.  Having taught literally thousands of classes throughout her career, Jayne’s teachings have tremendous depth and breadth that allow her to support and connect with students on many levels.
September 2013-November 2016, Jayne took on the role of Mind-Body Program Manager for the Eisenhower Wellness Institute establishing a community facing yoga and wellness program as part of Eisenhower Medical Center.
In December 2016, the next chapter in Jayne’s career is opening her own studio, Desert Yoga Therapy located in the heart of Rancho Mirage, CA. Along with fellow instructors, they offer a variety of yoga classes, one-on-one yoga therapy and one-on-one Pilates sessions. Jayne also leads workshops and retreats in California and Queensland, Australia.
Jayne is the primary instructor and creator of a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher Training which occurs over 10 modules. To date, Desert Yoga Therapy Teacher Training has graduated 35 teachers who have given 10-star ratings for excellence on the Yoga Alliance website for offering high-quality education.
With her strong commitment to her yogic path, at the beginning of 2012 Jayne began raising awareness and funds for the Global Seva Challenge-India.  This was in collaboration with Off the Mat, Into the World, a non-profit yoga based organization.  Her goal of $20,000 was directed toward addressing the issue of sex trafficking in India and supporting efforts to rescue and rehabilitate victims of the trade.  She raised over $28,000 in 2012 and traveled to India in February 2013 to visit the programs and partners that are being supported by the Global Seva Challenge.

Friday, July 7
4:00pm - 7:00pm

Upon completion of a 200-hour yoga teacher training, many instructors yearn for more education and a deeper connection to the community of those teaching yoga. Having stepped out into the world of bringing yoga to all types of students, questions begin to arise around particular needs and situations. All poses are not the same for all people and learning to adapt each pose to each person is vital in supporting all participants in a lifelong practice.

This workshop is designed to delve deeper into functional anatomy, yoga philosophy and getting more specific about fitting a yoga practice around the needs of whoever walks through the door. This interactive workshop will include both theory and practice. The participant will leave having deepened their knowledge of anatomy and function that can be applied immediately to support others in their practice.

In this workshop we will explore:
Applying the kinesiology of movement to common yoga postures
Natural Curves of the spine
Postural Line/Vertical Line
Vertebral bodies & their function
Load vs Movement
Spinal Stability
SI Joint
Benefits to the participant:
A deeper understanding of anatomy and its function in supporting a yoga practice
Adapting poses to meet specific needs and body types
An opportunity to share experiences with other yoga instructors
